Dr. B. Vengamma, MBBS, DM (Neurology), FRCP (Edin), FAMS, FICP, FIAN, PG Dip. in Epidemiology, former Director cum Vice-Chancellor, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh assumed charge as the Vice-Chancellor, Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research, Tamaka, Kolar, Karnataka from 8 th November 2023.
Dr.B.Vengamma has a clinical experience of 34 years during which she was the pioneer in establishing Department of Neurology in Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati and became Professor and Head, Department of Neurology, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati. She has an Administrative Experience of 33 years during which she was the Dean, Registrar and she became Director cum Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh for the third time from July 2019- June 2023 for a period of 9 year 8 months. She has a teaching experience of 34 years in various institutions of repute and 102 research publications, 07 chapters in books and 38 abstract in various journals of National and International importance to her credit. Dr.B.Vengamma has attended and organized various CMEs, workshops and conferences.

Dr.B.Vengamma, apart from her clinical and academic responsibilities has contributed her might to the society for the cause of the poor and down trodden individuals suffering with epilepsy. She started the Indian Epilepsy Association of Tirupati chapters in November 1999 and was the Founder President. She was the pioneer in starting the “Free Epilepsy Camp” since 1999 regularly that caters to nearly 500 epilepsy people every month.

She is the Founder and Honorary Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical and Scientific Research an official quarterly peer reviewed full-text print and online journal, a publication of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences.

Dr.B.Vengamma started Sri Padmavathi Medical College for women, an exclusive girl’s only college (second in the country) in 2014 for 150 students under Govt Sector for the benefit of Rayalseema students.

She has been the recipient of many awards like Harish Chandra Bajoria award for social activities in epilepsy, VIKRUTI Ugadi Vishishta Puraskaram from Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, FAMS by AIIMS Rishikesh and many such awards of great laurel.
