Vice Principal

Dr. (Prof) K.N. Shashidhar, Vice- Principal

Professor of Biochemistry has assumed charges as Vice- Principal of Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Tamaka, Kolar on 30th January 2019.

He is an Undergraduate Alumnus (MBBS) of Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar; and Postgraduate alumnus (MD Medical Biochemistry) from the prestigious Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (MAHE).

He has a teaching experience of 19 years starting as Tutor at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal to Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar. He has been trained in Revised Basic Course Workshop in Medical Education Technologies, Credit Based Education System and Continuous Assessment in Health Sciences. He has been dynamically involved in preparing undergraduate and postgraduate question papers and conducting examinations in various health universities.

He has been actively involved in various capacities of Central Diagnostic Laboratory Services, R. L. Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre , Kolar from being a Laboratory consultant to planning of CARE building and accomplishing  the NABL accreditation in 2017 . He is also a certified International Lead Assessor for Medical Laboratories across the world (FQI, AMLA, AER-SSC, QAI – ISO 15189; 2012 and ISO 22870; 2016). He is trained in Internal Counselor Program on NABH standards (Quality Council of India – H-3D-2016-08-5969) and is an Internal Auditor for NABL (ISO 15189; 2012). He also established Fluoride Research and Referral Laboratory at SDUMC, Kolar

He has been trained and certified in ICMR recognized Health Science Research methodology and Biostatistics helping him to undertake external and internal research projects in his field of interest. He has 49 publications in national and international journal to his credit and guided various Undergraduate (MBBS STS ICMR), MD, MS and PhD students in Research Projects. He is Reviewer and Editorial Board Member for various National & International Medical Journals.   He has co- authored few text books and has applied for patency for Quantitative ELISA for SerpinA4/Kallistatin.

He has been actively involved in administrative activities at various levels in Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research, a Deemed to be University.

Dr. Shashidhar has been bestowed with MNAMS in the year 2019 and is a qualified NAAC assessor since 2019. To his credit, he has delivered Guest Lectures at various CME’s, Organizing Chairperson of various CME’s and conducted 2nd AMBKCCon a state level conference at SDUAHER Campus, Kolar in 2014 and was widely appreciated.

He has been appointed as Director of Department of Research and Innovations in 2018. His other important achievements are representing World Health Organization (WHO) as WHO Pulse Polio Monitor in the Year 2006 in Kolar District, Karnataka and getting trained at Diabetes Research Centre (DRC), Chennai in for Diabetes Care, Control and Prevention, A DRC-WDF Project WHO Sponsored Programme.

He has also functioned as co-editor, Editor- in- chief and chairman of SDUMC college magazine “Sankeerna” and is a life member of various National and International Associations.

 

Dr. (Col) Prakash Dave, Vice Principal 

It gives me great pleasure to be a part of the Medical Education and Health care delivery system in Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College and R.L.Jalappa Hospital & Research Centre, Kolar.

While our every endeavor is directed at according to the high quality, best in class health care and education aiming at inculcating the best of skills among our medical graduates and postgraduates, who should be empowered with sufficient knowledge, skills, and correct attitude and be globally relevant and socially useful too. While according to the services (Preventive, curative & rehabilitative) to our clientele who are drawn mostly from the rural areas, at the most affordable cost, we have the additional responsibility of providing enough patients as “clinical material resource”  for our Undergraduates, Post Graduates students & Allied Health Sciences & nursing students.

While a high-class infrastructure for imparting medical education, training to the students as well as to the faculty through faculty development programs as well as research exists at our disposal, we are relentless in our efforts in striving for excellence in modern competency-based medical education and world-class research. We sincerely trust that a good medical professional who leaves the portals of this medical school has to be a good and responsible citizen and human being. We aim at developing the innate personality and ensure the overall development of our young student population.

Our journey of striving for excellence in providing health care too is a never-ending one. The college and the hospital have multiple plans to provide innovative education, research, and healthcare services in months & years to come.
